Balloon Volleyball

Lesson Title:     Balloon Volleyball

Description:      Balloon volleyball is game that is played indoors.  Balloon volleyball is an activity that uses motor skills, hand eye coordination, and team concepts.  The students will be randomly split into teams.  Teams may vary in size of 2 on each team to as many as 10 on each team.  Desks may be set up in the classroom to separate the teams.  Or, in the gym/cafeteria long tables maybe used, or no table at all.  Just leave enough distance between chairs where the teams are not too close to each other.  The object of the game is just like volleyball with some minor changes.  The student is not limited to the amount of times they can hit the ball.  First team to 15 points wins the game, must win by 2 points.  You can play the best of 3 games or as time allows.  Students cannot stand up to hit the balloon.  That is lifting their rears off the chair, it is a point for the other team.  Players cannot catch or trap the balloon.  That is a point for the other team.  If the other team hits the balloon out of reach of the other team, it is a point for that team that cannot reach the balloon.  If the balloon goes between players, between their legs or any other body parts or is not returned, it is a point for the other team.  Players may use any part of their body to keep the balloon alive.  If there are no tables or desks between teams, the serve must be above the knees of the opposing team.  Keep extra balloons as they tend to pop or loose air.  A player keeps serving as long as they keep winning points.
